Saturday Documentary! Sept. 17, 2011 "Third Reich, The Rise and Fall"

Good morning doomers! I found this at Top Documentary Films, a great site to watch free documentaries online. This movie is haunting. So much of it sounds uncomfortably familiar, especially the first part that talks about the conditions in Germany that gave rise to Nazism. I don't think the majority of the German people had any earthly idea what they were in for when they supported Hitler in the beginning. 

I try to imagine what it would be like today, if someone like a Hitler were to rise to power here, now that we have the internet and such advanced methods of surveillance. 

As the United States sinks further into recession/depression, you have to wonder, how ripe are we here, for something like this to happen here?

I wonder who our "reviled" group would be? Would it be Liberals? Intellectuals? Scientists? Non-Christians?
or the new group responsible for all the woes in America...
Baby Boomers?  Maybe some combination of all of the above or some as yet unspecified group.

This documentary did a masterful job I think in showing how self deluded people can be and how even when surrounded by atrocities beyond description, they can still go on as though nothing was happening.
